Pillsbury Indian Flat Breads

Pillsbury Indian Flat BreadsForget  the biscuits in a can -- try some of these tasty Pillsbury parathas, naans, and rotis, all imported from India.  They're perfect for all your curry dishes, but are just great for making unique sandwiches or as a snack by themselves.

They're available in different flavors such as Spring Onion Paratha, Paneer Naan, and Missi Roti.  Best of all, they're easy to prepare.  Just heat them on a frying pan with a little butter for a nice, crunchy treat.  With the Pillsbury name, you know that you're getting a great product at a great price.  Unlike some lesser brands, Pillsbury breads pack lots of flavor and fillings into each bread.

Rotis are just $1.85, Parathas are $2.25, and Naans are $3.45.  You can find them in the frozen Indian section.

Try this serving suggestion: Prepare some parathas instead of toast for breakfast.  You won't be disappointed!

The staff favorite is the Paneer Naan.  What's yours?

Get out and try something different

I had the privilege of attending a classical Indian music concert sponsored by PADMINI and Outpost Productions this past weekend.  Not one to consider myself a fan of classical music in general, I wasn't quite sure what to expect.  However, I'm glad I went -- the experience turned out to be quite exceptional, and extremely uplifting.

The Simms Center for the Performing Arts at Albuquerque Academy provided an intimate setting that allowed all to clearly see Maestro Amjad Ali Khan and his two sons, Amaan and Ayaan perform on the sarod.  The music was inspirational and moving, but being able to see the musicians in person and the expressions on their faces, and the skill in which they played their instruments, was half of the experience.  Watching the tabla player alone, was an experience in itself.  It's not possible to get the same results just by listening to a CD.

After the concert, I was able to meet the musicians.  They were very nice, and truly down-to-earth.  I even got a CD from the two brothers, entitled Truth, that is more modern in nature.  What a serendipitous chain of events!

This was a memorable weekend that I would never had experienced if I hadn't tried something different.  Do you know of a unique event coming up that you'd like to get others to attend?  If so, let us know, so we all can try something different.  Who knows?  You might even enjoy it.
